Google Gemini
Google Gemini (formerly Google Bard) is an AI-based, multimodal chatbot developed by Google. It was developed in direct response to the success of ChatGPT and was initially released under the name Bard in March 2023. After extensive updates and a rebranding, Gemini is now Google's central AI product and is available in over 230 countries and more than 70 languages.

Similar to the competitor product ChatGPT, Google Gemini can answer a variety of questions in a conversation-like manner – as an app, with a web browser, with Android Auto, WearOS or even with Google TV. Gemini allows multimodal work, meaning that you can enter various media such as voice, photos or videos as well as receive different formats such as code, images or speech.
Google Gemini offers a function called Gems, personalised versions of Gemini that can be created by the user for specific tasks.
The chatbot was initially based on LaMDA, a Large Language Model (LLM) developed by Google AI, before this was replaced by the better PaLM model. Since December 2023, it has been based on the new LLM Gemini of the same name developed by DeepMind, which is based on the Transformer architecture with a greatly expanded context capture window and several parallel “expert” neural networks. The current models are Gemini 3.0 Flash and 3.1 Pro.
As of February 2026, Gemini is available in more than 230 countries and regions and in more than 70 languages. The basic version of Google Gemini is free to use, but there are also paid versions with extended access and additional features.
